The cluelessness of the liberal media and the Democrats since the election has been remarkable to watch. They’re still trying to make sense of how President-elect Donald Trump pulled off his victory.
One of the few people who seem to understand is CNN’s Van Jones. As previously reported, Jones explained that Trump grasped the rise of new media, recognizing that the legacy mainstream media had become the “fringe” while the so-called “fringe” was now mainstream.
Former CNN commentator Chris Cillizza asked Jones about this during a discussion, demonstrating just how out of touch some Democrats remain.
“How the hell did Donald Trump figure out that the mainstream media is the fringe and the fringe is now the mainstream?” Cillizza asked. “The 78-year-old guy who doesn’t even have a computer and still writes handwritten notes? How did he become the guy who cracked the code?”
The answer? It’s not exactly rocket science. The new media’s numbers speak for themselves, and Trump simply paid attention to them. Meanwhile, Democrats were stuck bragging about outdated tactics like door-knocking.
Cillizza pointed to Joe Rogan’s platform as an obvious place to connect with people. Yet, even that seemed beyond the grasp of the Democrats. “Kamala Harris couldn’t even do that,” Cillizza lamented.
Jones credited Elon Musk for helping Trump understand the shift. Interestingly, it was Barron Trump who reportedly suggested reaching out through podcasts. But more than anything, Trump’s willingness to engage with anyone—friendly or hostile—and his focus on delivering concrete policies set him apart. Unlike Kamala Harris, Trump offered clarity and direction.
Jones underscored Trump’s resilience, noting that Trump consistently overcame challenges, emerging stronger each time. “He’s the guy who, after getting politically shot, stood up and shouted, ‘Fight! Fight! Fight!’”
Van Jones’ honesty about Trump’s political prowess was striking. “Everybody keeps asking, ‘How could Donald Trump?’” he said. “Guys, can we cut it out? Donald Trump is not an idiot. Let me just be very clear: Donald Trump is smarter than me, you, and all the critics. You know how I know? Because he has the White House, the Senate, the House, and the popular vote.”
Jones also emphasized the unique energy behind Trump’s movement. “He has the fervor of a political movement around him,” he said. “His best buddy is the richest person in the history of the world, and the most relevant Kennedy is with him. This dude is a phenomenon—the most powerful human on Earth in our lifetime. And we’re still sitting here saying, ‘Well, how is this guy doing it?’ We look like idiots.”
Cillizza agreed wholeheartedly.
Kudos to Van Jones for his candor. However, Democrats and much of the liberal media remain stuck, blaming everyone but themselves, clinging to outdated narratives, and still labeling Trump as “Hitler.” As Van’s remarks make clear, this approach isn’t just ineffective—it’s delusional.
