Donald Trump claimed he is ‘a better-looking person’ than Kamala Harris during a rally.
At a campaign event in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, on Saturday, Trump once again fixated on Kamala Harris’s appearance, this time declaring that he’s “better looking” than his Democratic rival while mocking those who refer to her as “beautiful.”
During his speech in the crucial swing state, the former president took the opportunity to ridicule Harris’s Time magazine cover, suggesting that the artwork was designed to make her look more attractive.
“Time magazine doesn’t have a picture of [Harris]. They have this unbelievable artist drawing her, and I said, ‘Is that Sophia Loren?’ I couldn’t tell,” Trump remarked to his audience.
He then went on to criticize Wall Street Journal columnist Peggy Noonan, who recently wrote that Harris’s “beauty” could be an advantage in the presidential election.
“So I decided to go back and re-read,” Trump said. “But I say that I am much better looking than her.”
The crowd responded with applause, prompting Trump to repeat, “I’m a better looking person than Kamala.”
This marks at least the fourth time Trump has mentioned the Time magazine cover during a speech, interview, or rally, as he continues to launch personal attacks against his political opponent.
This strategy mirrors the approach he used when running against President Joe Biden, frequently bringing up Biden’s age and questioning his mental fitness. Those attacks, coupled with Biden’s poor performance in the presidential debate, resonated with voters who felt that Biden’s age could hinder his ability to lead the country for another four years.
Now, with Biden out of the race and Harris stepping in, Trump is adjusting his attacks and finding new ways to target Harris.
So far, the former president has questioned Harris’s race, suggesting she “turned Black” suddenly, labeled her laugh as that of “a lunatic,” and tried to portray her as unpopular by claiming—without evidence—that Biden “hates” her. He has also made wild, baseless claims that Harris would drive the U.S. economy into a Great Depression-style collapse or lead the world into World War III.
