A Maryland woman admitted in court this week to embezzling more than $1 million from the real estate agency she worked for, spending the stolen funds on personal indulgences, including Taylor Swift concert tickets, luxury vacations, and five vehicles.

Jennifer Tinker, 41, confessed to transferring the money from her employer’s accounts to her own through over 90 wire transfers from 2021 to 2023, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Maryland. She disguised the fraudulent transactions by using fake names and falsified information in the company’s accounting records, prosecutors revealed.

The charges include federal wire fraud, which could lead to a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison. Tinker is scheduled to be sentenced in April.

Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour, held from March 2023 to December 2023, became infamous for its steep ticket prices, ranging from $600 to $5,000 per ticket for premium seats, as reported by Billboard. The tour broke records with over $2 billion in ticket sales, contributing to Swift’s billionaire status achieved last year.

Tinker’s extravagant spending on the tour highlights the lengths to which some fans—known as Swifties—were willing to go to attend the highly sought-after shows.
