Recent polls suggest that former President Donald Trump is widening his lead over President Joe Biden nationally.
According to a Rasmussen Reports poll released on Tuesday, Trump holds a six-point lead over Biden in a head-to-head matchup, with 47% supporting Trump and 41% backing Biden. Nine percent of respondents favor “some other candidate,” while two percent are undecided. Notably, Trump enjoys a significant 16-point advantage among independents in this scenario.
When respondents were asked about their preferences in a presidential race including third-party candidates, Trump still maintains a lead with 43% support compared to Biden’s 37%. Twelve percent of respondents opt for Robert F. Kennedy Jr., five percent support “some other candidate,” and three percent remain undecided. Trump also maintains a ten-point lead among independents in this setup.
The survey, conducted from February 13-15, 2024, among 868 likely voters, carries a margin of error of ± three percent:

Discussing the prospective showdown in December, Trump conveyed to Breitbart News that he views Biden as “dishonest,” “unscrupulous,” and “untrustworthy.”
“But in his life, he’s always been able to convince people he’s this really nice guy. I laugh when they say, ‘Trump is the evil one, and he’s the nice one.’ That’s the one thing he’s been able to do. All you have to do is look at his credentials. When you compare him today to 15 or 20 years ago, he’s a different kind of a guy. The guy can’t talk. The guy can’t put two sentences together,” he said.
