The Pentagon drew criticism on Friday for its handling of recent drone incursions across the United States, including over military bases. As Jim Hoft reported, a number of mysterious drones were spotted flying over New Jersey last week, with sightings across at least 12 counties. Local mayors contacted the governor, demanding answers, and raising concerns that a foreign adversary might be involved.
Rep. Jeff Van Drew (R-NJ) claimed Wednesday that he had information from “very high sources” suggesting that Iran is behind the drone activity. “I learned from very qualified sources that Iran launched a mothership a month ago that contains these drones,” Van Drew said. “It’s off the east coast of the United States.”
This is not limited to New Jersey. Former Maryland Governor Larry Hogan reported Friday that he had seen several drones near his residence in recent days.
Additionally, drones have been spotted over U.S. military bases.
The Pentagon’s response to these troubling sightings has only fueled anger and confusion. On Friday, the Department of Defense posted a message on its website, purportedly a “test,” which many found baffling and incoherent.
The message sparked an uproar on social media, with many mocking the agency’s communication. Some even joked about President Biden possibly being behind the website mishap.
