On the heels of fresh polling showing Donald Trump pulling ahead of Kamala Harris in key Pennsylvania counties, new voter data reveals a significant surge in Republican registrations throughout September. The GOP nearly doubled the number of new voters compared to Democrats during that period.
This surge bodes well for Trump, fresh off his triumphant return to Butler, PA, and for Senate candidate Dave McCormick, who’s closing the gap against incumbent Democrat Bob Casey. Data enthusiasts can check the county-by-county breakdown of registration figures here. As reported by RedState’s Bonchie, Monday’s analysis of two bellwether counties in Pennsylvania also showed growing support for Trump:
“According to a survey conducted by Cygnal and sponsored by The Daily Wire, Trump leads in the bellwether counties of Erie and Northampton. These counties have voted for the overall winner in the 2008, 2012, 2016, and 2020 elections, making them crucial battlegrounds in this pivotal swing state.”
These new voter registrations could shift momentum further in favor of the GOP in these critical electoral areas. Bonchie explains why Pennsylvania is key to the 2024 election:
“Whoever wins Pennsylvania is almost certainly going to win the election. Yes, analysts can shuffle the map with different state outcomes, but if a nominee doesn’t win The Keystone State, they likely lost Michigan and Wisconsin too. That’s why Trump and his PACs have spent more in Pennsylvania than anywhere else.”
A closer look at last week’s voter registration data shows Republicans outpacing Democrats 2-to-1, with a net gain of over 7,000 new voters. According to the Upper Providence Township GOP, it was the best single week for new registrations in 2024.
Much of this success might be attributed to conservative activist Scott Presler, a RedState contributor. Known for his efforts cleaning up neglected areas in Democrat-run cities like Baltimore, Presler has focused on turning Pennsylvania red by prioritizing voter registration. His team has been relentless, even uncovering what appeared to be an attempt by state officials to disrupt GOP registrations during Trump’s rally in Butler. RedState’s Brandon Morse reported on this:
“Presler uncovered an attempt by the Pennsylvania Department of State to conduct ‘maintenance’ on their voter registration system during Trump’s rally. As Presler explained in an interview with Human Events Daily, the registration website announced the downtime right before Trump’s return, likely intended to stifle enthusiasm and prevent sign-ups.”
With the registration deadline looming on October 21, expect further efforts by Democrats to counter this GOP momentum as Republican numbers continue to climb.
