Florida Governor Ron DeSantis was at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley, California, and he had some harsh words for California Democratic Governor Gavin Newsom. In his speech, DeSantis said that Reagan understood the role of government and how it could be a negative force if not applied correctly. He then went on to compare the performances of individual states and how Florida had a great experiment in governing philosophies.
DeSantis said that because of states like California, New York, and Illinois imposing leftist ideology and delivering poor results, there has been a great American exodus to states like Florida. Florida has been governing according to President Reagan’s principles, and it has become a beacon of freedom while other states have become biomedical security states due to Woke politics rather than medical science.
Governor DeSantis also shared that Florida banned vaccine passports, and Florida’s set a record for domestic tourism in 2021, unlike California, where tourism declined by 22%. In an ironic twist, Governor Newsom’s been criticized for fleeing California on “personal travel” while hundreds of people remain trapped in snow-covered mountain communities. Senator Ted Cruz even made a joke about it.
Governor DeSantis gave California’s governor a piece of his mind, and you can bet there’ll be more where that came from.
