During her tenure at the U.S. Treasury Department during the Obama-Biden administration, President Biden’s niece, Casey Owens, exchanged emails with Hunter Biden and the president of his company, sharing information about China Investment Corporation (CIC), China’s largest sovereign wealth fund.
At the time, Casey Owens served as a special assistant for the U.S.-China Strategic and Economic Dialogue at the Treasury Department. This correspondence occurred as Hunter’s now-defunct Rosemont Seneca Advisors, where Eric Schwerin was president, was actively seeking potential investments from the state-owned CIC, which manages a portion of China’s foreign exchange reserves.
On April 12, 2010, Owens emailed Hunter and Schwerin a schedule from a CIC investment conference that had taken place in late March 2010. This communication coincided with Hunter’s visit to Beijing, where he met with CIC Chief Investment Officer Gao Xiqing, as reported in a Republican Senate report from September 2020.
Months later, an article about Casey Owens mentioned her close collaboration with the CIC during her work on the U.S.-China Strategic and Economic Dialogue, further highlighting her connections to the fund.
Subsequently, Schwerin shared a Bloomberg News article about CIC with Owens in July 2010, which he then forwarded to Hunter. In August 2010, Schwerin introduced Owens to Jack Casey of Meridian Investments, emphasizing her role at the Treasury Department in the Strategic Economic Dialogue.
A source familiar with Rosemont Seneca’s interests indicated that Owens likely provided the company with intelligence to enhance their chances of securing investments from CIC, although there is no knowledge of any finalized deals between the two parties.
In early 2011, Hunter and his Rosemont Seneca partners explored expanding their energy investments with state-owned investment funds, including those in China. Hunter and Devon Archer, a co-founder of Rosemont Seneca, discussed connections with various sovereign wealth funds, including the CIC, in March 2011.
Hunter and Archer reportedly traveled to China in April 2011, where they met with CIC officials. In May 2011, just before leaving the Treasury, Owens emailed an account referred to as “Uncle Joe,” presumably Vice President Biden, expressing her gratitude for his support and involvement in Treasury events.
The “Uncle Joe” account forwarded Owens’ email to Hunter, Beau Biden, and Valerie Biden Owens. “Auks” was another pseudonym used by Vice President Biden, which appeared in multiple email exchanges on Hunter’s laptop.

Casey Owens, now known as Casey Castello, left the Treasury in July 2011 and is currently employed as an executive at Starbucks, according to her LinkedIn profile.
There has been no response from Owens, Casey, Schwerin, the Treasury, the White House, or Hunter Biden’s lawyer to requests for comment from Fox News Digital.
