Donald Trump: I Will Make America Great Again for Young People

Five Prominent Trump Backers Who Have Shifted Their Support to DeSantis

Former President and leading candidate for the 2024 GOP nomination, Donald Trump, has penned an op-ed for Newsweek, directing his message to the youth of America. In the piece published on Wednesday morning, Trump asserts his commitment to revitalizing the nation for its younger generation, declaring, “I will make America great again for young people.”

Reflecting on his initial presidential term, Trump emphasizes the achievements of creating the world’s most robust and prosperous economy. Under his leadership, annual incomes experienced a substantial increase of over $6,000, inflation was maintained below 2 percent, and gasoline prices plummeted to $1.87 per gallon. Household net worth soared to unprecedented levels, witnessing a 40 percent surge for the bottom 50 percent of American households.

While the U.S. economy thrived for young Americans during Trump’s presidency, he contends that the past three years have seen the younger generation grappling with the adverse effects of the Biden administration’s policies.

Trump points to challenges such as crippling inflation, surging prices, escalating interest rates, unaffordable housing, and rising crime. Over the Biden administration’s tenure, real incomes have reportedly dropped by $7,400 per family, gas prices have soared to as high as $7 a gallon in certain areas, cumulative inflation stands at 18 percent, and mortgage rates have surged to a challenging seven percent, rendering homeownership unattainable for numerous young Americans.

Trump contrasts his administration’s record low 30-year mortgage rate of 2.65 percent with the current situation under Biden, where soaring interest rates are hindering home ownership, particularly for young Americans aspiring to start families.

Consequently, a growing number of young individuals are delaying marriage and children, with financial concerns identified as the primary reason for dropping out of school, according to a 2022 study.

Highlighting the power of American voters, Trump asserts that they hold the key to swiftly restoring the country to a state of peace, prosperity, and strength. He contends that young people stand to gain the most from ushering in this change, emphasizing that in the upcoming November elections, millions of young Americans are expected to cast their votes to end what he terms as Joe Biden’s failed presidency and to continue the mission of making America great again.
