Former President Donald Trump signed the Abraham Accords on September 15, 2020, marking one of the significant foreign policy achievements during his first term in office.
The Western Journal characterized the Abraham Accords as a “momentous peace initiative in which Israel and the UAE agreed to normalize relations.”
Yitz Friedman, who works with the Washington-based American Accountability Foundation, expressed his gratitude to the former President, suggesting that the Abraham Accord agreement likely played a crucial role in saving his life.
Friedman’s announcement coincided with a U.S. report indicating that 22 American civilians had lost their lives in Israel since the Hamas attack on Saturday.
Friedman had been on assignment in southern Israel when Hamas launched their unexpected assault. An Israeli organization reported a death toll exceeding 1,200, with up to 200 individuals missing, including around 70 confirmed as kidnapped, and 2,300 injured.
Fortunately, Friedman and his wife emerged unscathed, largely due to their ability to travel to a safer country via the Abraham Accord.
Friedman explained that extensive rocket attacks had led to the cancellation of most flights out of the country. The Times of Israel reported that the Tel Aviv airport and runway suffered damage from rockets fired from the Gaza Strip.
“We weren’t certain what to do,” Friedman recounted. “Fortunately, one of the few airlines still operating flights is Emirates. My wife and I just flew from Tel Aviv, passing through three or four armed military checkpoints to reach the airport. Now, we are in Dubai, waiting for our connecting flight to the United States, safe and sound.”

Friedman, a U.S. citizen, emphasized that were it not for Trump’s efforts in establishing the Abraham Accords, his journey to the United Arab Emirates would have been unfeasible.
As per The Western Journal, it was the Trump administration that facilitated the peace agreement between Israel and the two Arab nations.
The American Accountability Foundation staff member based in Washington, D.C., stated:
“If it weren’t for the Trump-brokered Abraham Accords, this situation would be unimaginable. There wouldn’t have been any flights from Israel to the UAE. Being able to travel to a welcoming Arab nation when even American flights would not risk it during a time of conflict is nothing short of a miracle.”
Friedman continued, saying, “I would like to express my gratitude to President Trump. After several days of living in fear and anxiety in Israel, I am now en route to my home in the United States. Almost all airlines had canceled their flights, including our return flight,” Friedman shared on X this past Tuesday.
