ABC Debate Fails to Address Education Issues

During the presidential debate hosted by ABC News in Philadelphia on Tuesday, the issue of education was completely overlooked, as Breitbart News Senior Editor-at-Large Joel B. Pollak highlighted on Ask Dr. Drew on Wednesday.

Pollak appeared on Dr. Drew’s show to analyze the debate, noting that while it wasn’t a “disaster” for former President Donald Trump, Vice President Kamala Harris struggled with her responses on the economy. However, he said she had “won” the debate by demonstrating strength and confidence to her supporters.

In contrast, Pollak pointed out that Trump was too combative and missed the opportunity to connect with his own voters.

He also criticized the debate as being deeply flawed, including the bias of the moderators, who failed to address China as a foreign policy issue, leaving that to the candidates—primarily Trump. Pollak added that the moderators also completely ignored education, a significant concern for many Americans, particularly married women, who are worried about the lasting effects of coronavirus lockdowns, the influence of transgender ideology, and the power of teachers’ unions.

At one point in the show (31:40 in the video above), Dr. Drew’s producer mentioned that her daughter, an Ivy League graduate, believed Kamala Harris had performed well, particularly on the issue of abortion.

Pollak asked if her daughter was single or married (she answered that her daughter was single, with a long-term boyfriend), and he observed that education is one of the most critical issues for married women—yet it was never addressed during the debate, nor did either candidate bring it up.

“There was a question missing from the debate as well, which I think a married woman would have picked up on, which is there was nothing about education. Not one thing about education. And I think a big worry for American parents right now is what’s going on in the schools.”

A search of the ABC News transcript confirms that the word “education” was never mentioned during the debate. Pollak further remarked that if the moderators fail to raise a key issue, it is up to the candidates to address it themselves. While praising Trump’s response on abortion, he noted that the moderators interrupted him before he could fully elaborate.
