Governor Glenn Youngkin (R-VA) is set to appear at the Turning Point USA tour at Virginia Tech University on Wednesday evening, marking his role as the first of several governors participating in this national university tour.
Youngkin will deliver remarks alongside conservative commentator Megyn Kelly.
“Charlie’s mission continues at @TPUSA. Honored to join them with @megynkelly in Blacksburg on Wednesday,” Youngkin posted on X on Monday.
The Virginia Tech event is the second stop on the Turning Point Tour, following the tragic assassination of co-founder Charlie Kirk on September 10. This event was planned prior to Kirk’s death, and he was originally scheduled to speak tonight.
In light of Kirk’s assassination, Erika Kirk, who has taken over as the new CEO of Turning Point USA, announced the tour will proceed, attracting several GOP governors to participate. Governors Spencer Cox (R-UT), Greg Gianforte (R-MT), and Jeff Landry (R-LA) are also slated to join the “This is The Turning Point” tour in the upcoming weeks.
Youngkin has publicly honored Kirk and his family by calling for a statewide moment of prayer and reflection after Kirk’s death and ordering state flags to be flown at half-staff for five days. He also joined Lt. Gov. Winsome Earle-Sears in urging the resignation of a Chesterfield County school board member who made an inappropriate comment regarding Kirk’s death.
“As Charlie Kirk is laid to rest, Suzanne and I are lifting up in prayer his wife Erika, Charlie’s two young children, and the millions of Americans mourning the loss of this inspiring life stolen from all of us,” Youngkin posted on X the day of Kirk’s funeral. “Charlie’s unwavering devotion to Christ and to the betterment of our great country is a legacy that will never perish.”
