The official cause of death for WWE legend Hulk Hogan has been confirmed.
According to the New York Post, the Pinellas County Forensic Science Center determined that Hogan died from acute myocardial infarction—commonly known as a heart attack—which occurs when blood flow to the heart muscle is suddenly blocked.
Documents obtained by the New York Post also revealed that Hogan had a history of an irregular and rapid heart rate. Additionally, he had been battling a form of cancer known as chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL), which affects white blood cells called lymphocytes. This is the first time his cancer diagnosis has been publicly disclosed.
As previously reported, Hogan passed away on July 24 at the age of 71.
Emergency responders were dispatched to Hogan’s home in Clearwater, Florida, after a report of “cardiac arrest.” TMZ noted that multiple police cars and EMT vehicles were seen outside the residence, and Hogan was carried on a stretcher into an ambulance.
Hogan was widely recognized as one of President Trump’s most vocal supporters. His memorable appearance at the Republican National Convention included a shirt-ripping moment as he praised Trump.
