Vice President JD Vance shared his thoughts on Jimmy Kimmel’s indefinite cancellation of his show, following controversial remarks about the assassination of Charlie Kirk.
Nexstar recently announced that all 32 ABC affiliates would be preempting “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” indefinitely, condemning Kimmel’s comments about Kirk’s murder as “offensive and insensitive.”
Kimmel, known for his leftist views, claimed in a recent broadcast that a MAGA Republican was responsible for Kirk’s murder and accused the right of exploiting the tragedy for political gain.
“We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it,” Kimmel stated.
In response to the news of Kimmel’s job loss, many liberals expressed outrage, particularly targeting FCC Chairman Brendan Carr for his threat of action against ABC if Kimmel was not terminated.
Vance took the opportunity to inject humor into the situation. On Thursday morning, he tweeted a witty suggestion that Marco Rubio, the Secretary of State and acting national security advisor, would be an excellent replacement for Kimmel.
“Everyone please congratulate @marcorubio, the new host of ABC’s late night show!” Vance tweeted.

The ongoing joke in Washington is that Rubio fills in for any vacancy in the administration, suggesting he has a full plate. Why not add late-night comedy to his list of duties? There’s no doubt Rubio would outperform Kimmel and likely provoke strong reactions from Democrats.
ABC should consider making him an offer.
