After 77 years, the United States has officially ended its association with the World Health Organization (WHO), an agency criticized for its ties to China and globalist influences.
President Donald Trump fulfilled a commitment to the American public by completing the withdrawal on Thursday, precisely one year after initiating the process with an executive order.
Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, the Ethiopian Director General of the WHO, had urged the U.S. to reconsider its decision following the executive order.
This decisive action liberates the U.S. from perceived globalist constraints, concluding a long period during which American taxpayers supported an organization accused of incompetence and bias, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The WHO has faced significant criticism for its handling of the early stages of the pandemic, often echoing misinformation from Beijing and promoting experimental vaccines globally.
For decades, the WHO has sought billions from American taxpayers while pursuing controversial agendas, failed pandemic treaties, and stringent lockdown measures, seeking to control medical practices and travel.
BREAKING: The U.S. has officially withdrawn from the WHO, allowing organizations like the Gates Foundation and GAVI to occupy the funding vacuum.
“My heart goes out to all remaining WHO member states… now answering directly to the vaccine cartel,” tweeted Nicolas Hulscher, MPH.
Trump’s first term attempted to withdraw in 2020, but the move was reversed by Joe Biden, who took office in a contentious election.
With Trump’s return to power following a significant victory in 2024, the U.S. claims independence from unelected officials.
According to a press release from the U.S. Health and State Departments, the U.S. will limit its interactions with the WHO to facilitate the withdrawal.
“We have no plans to participate as an observer, and we have no plans of rejoining,” stated a senior health official. The U.S. intends to collaborate directly with other nations on public health matters rather than through the WHO.
“The American people have paid more than enough,” a State Department spokesperson remarked earlier on Thursday.
The Department of Health and Human Services confirmed that funding contributions to the WHO have ceased. Trump had previously halted the transfer of U.S. resources to the organization due to its financial impact on the U.S.
Witnesses reported that the U.S. flag was removed from outside the WHO headquarters in Geneva on the day of the withdrawal.
