Lance Twiggs, 22, the transgender partner of Tyler Robinson, who is accused of killing Charlie Kirk, has seemingly gone missing from his Utah hometown six weeks following the shocking political assassination.
According to federal authorities, Twiggs has been unreachable since receiving a series of text messages from Robinson confessing to the murder of the Turning Point USA co-founder. Since then, Twiggs has avoided his $1,800-a-month apartment located on the outskirts of St. George.
While officials claim he is cooperating, Twiggs has not spoken to reporters as Robinson remains in a Salt Lake City jail awaiting trial. Robinson made a brief court appearance on Monday, utilizing a defense strategy similar to that of another accused political assassin, Luigi Mangione. The Utah native requested to appear in civilian clothing for future hearings, arguing that an orange jumpsuit could prejudice potential jurors, and also sought to avoid wearing shackles. The judge permitted the first request but denied the second, marking a partial win for the defense.
Robinson’s next court date is scheduled for January 16, with an arraignment on January 30.
Twiggs and Robinson began living together after Twiggs was reportedly disowned by his devout Mormon parents in 2018. However, recent Venmo transactions suggest his family may have reconciled, as they sent him money for “prescriptions” and “gas,” including a payment from his father just months prior to Kirk’s death.
It remains uncertain whether Twiggs has returned home to his parents or is still in St. George. His Infiniti FX35 is currently parked in his parents’ driveway, located four hours from Utah Valley University, where Kirk was shot.
Neighbors have noted that the apartment, once lively, has become eerily quiet since Robinson’s arrest. “It definitely is a shock it happened here,” remarked Jesse Riley, a nearby resident, to the New York Post. “It’s a quiet neighborhood. You know your neighbor on your left or your right, but people are pretty isolated.”
The relationship between Twiggs and his strict Mormon parents has been tumultuous over the years, with differing accounts explaining the reasons behind their estrangement.
