Turning Point USA’s leadership is honoring the final wishes of Charlie Kirk, who designated a successor in the event of his unexpected passing.
At just 31 years old, Kirk had laid out a succession plan he believed would steer the conservative youth organization he founded through the post-Trump era. His dynamic presence as a family man and critic of higher education contributed significantly to Turning Point’s remarkable growth, which includes the establishment of over 3,000 chapters nationwide.
Behind Kirk’s success was his wife, Erika, who played a crucial role in his journey and welcomed him back home after his travels.
Just two days after Kirk’s death, Erika, 36, pledged to continue the mission of Turning Point. This commitment was realized on Thursday when the board of directors unanimously appointed her as the new president.
In a letter to members, the board referenced the wisdom of King Solomon from Ecclesiastes, stating, “Today we are facing such a test, yet we also know that God has prepared us with everything we need to overcome this ordeal.”
They added, “It was the honor of our lives to serve as board members at Charlie’s side. Charlie prepared all of us for a moment like this one. He worked tirelessly to ensure Turning Point USA was built to survive even the greatest tests. And now, it is our great pride to announce Erika Kirk as the new CEO and Chair of the Board for Turning Point.”
Erika Kirk graduated from Arizona State University in 2011 and was crowned Miss Arizona the following year. She founded Everyday Heroes Like You, a nonprofit supporting lesser-known charities, and hosts her own podcast, “Midweek Rise Up.”
Now at the helm of a significantly larger organization, Turning Point reported $85 million in revenue for 2024, playing a pivotal role in mobilizing conservative college students during the elections. Both President Donald Trump and Vice President J.D. Vance credited their victory to Kirk’s efforts.
“All of us at Turning Point USA have a special role in carrying Charlie Kirk’s mantle and completing his vision of bringing us all closer to our Lord and fostering a prosperous country for generations to come,” the board concluded. “We will carry on. The attempt to destroy Charlie’s work will become our chance to make it more powerful and enduring than ever before.”
