During a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Friday, President Trump made headlines by using a strong expletive while discussing Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro.
Zelensky visited the White House for a bilateral lunch with Trump, donning a suit jacket that the President complimented as ‘stylish.’
As the lunch progressed, Trump addressed questions from reporters and took a jab at Maduro, who has reportedly offered the U.S. ‘everything’ following the military’s recent destruction of drug smuggling vessels.
On Thursday, U.S. forces targeted a narco-terrorist vessel in the Caribbean, resulting in the seizure of at least two survivors. A Navy helicopter transported them to a naval ship, although the exact number of passengers remains unclear. This marked the sixth instance of U.S. military action against Venezuelan drug traffickers.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt defended Trump’s military strategy, stating, ‘There should be no surprise for this. The president campaigned on using every lever of power to go after the drug cartels who have been trafficking illicit poison into our country for far too long.’
In light of the U.S. military’s actions, Maduro appears to have softened his stance, with reports indicating he has offered his country’s natural resources and even recorded a message proposing mediation. A reporter noted, ‘He’s offered everything…’
Trump responded, ‘You’re right. You know why? Because he doesn’t want to f*ck around with the United States.’
