President Donald Trump celebrated another significant victory on Thursday as the Senate confirmed his nominee to lead the Department of Agriculture (USDA), Brooke Rollins, marking the administration’s latest Cabinet success. Rollins, who previously served as president and CEO of the America First Policy Institute (AFPI), was unanimously advanced by the Senate Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry Committee in January before her full confirmation.
Rollins, a key figure in Trump’s first administration as director of the Office of American Innovation and acting director of the Domestic Policy Council, was praised by the president for her unwavering dedication to American farmers and rural communities. “Brooke’s commitment to support the American Farmer, defense of American Food Self-Sufficiency, and the restoration of Agriculture-dependent American Small Towns is second to none,” Trump declared in November when announcing her nomination.
Her confirmation follows that of Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who was recently confirmed as Trump’s Health secretary, and underscores the administration’s rapid pace in securing Cabinet appointments. With Rollins now the 16th Cabinet official confirmed, Trump’s administration has outpaced both his first term and former President Joe Biden’s in achieving confirmations at this stage.
During her confirmation hearing in January, Rollins emphasized her vision for revitalizing American agriculture and supporting the nation’s farmers, earning bipartisan support from the Senate committee. “As our next Secretary of Agriculture, Brooke will spearhead the effort to protect American Farmers, who are truly the backbone of our Country. Congratulations Brooke!” Trump added following her confirmation.
The administration’s momentum continues as it builds a team poised to advance its policy priorities, with Rollins’ confirmation standing as a testament to the president’s ability to rally bipartisan support for his nominees.
