Former President Donald Trump has confirmed plans to host a screening of the film “Sound of Freedom” at his exclusive club in Bedminster, New Jersey. The movie, directed by Alejandro Monteverde and distributed by Angel Studios, has gained unexpected popularity, earning an impressive “A+ rating” from audiences and being hailed as an unlikely box office hit by Variety.
The film tells a powerful story centered around the dismantling of a child-trafficking ring in Colombia. Despite its relatively modest budget of $14.5 million, “Sound of Freedom” managed to surpass Disney’s “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny” on its opening day, even though it was shown in fewer theaters.
However, some media outlets with left-leaning perspectives have harshly criticized the film, associating it with conspiracy theories and QAnon. CNN, The New York Times, The Guardian, and Rolling Stone have been accused of launching a coordinated smear campaign against the movie, with allegations that it supports QAnon. The Guardian labeled the film as “paranoid,” while Rolling Stone described it as a “QAnon-tinged thriller” targeting conspiracy-believing baby boomers. It is worth noting that Rolling Stone had previously praised the controversial movie “Cuties,” which depicted sexualized dancing by young girls.
Actor Jim Caviezel, who portrayed the protagonist Tim Ballard in “Sound of Freedom,” responded to the mainstream media’s criticism by stating that they are fearful of the movie’s message and accomplishments.
Furthermore, the film’s producer, Eduardo Verástegui, has previously served on Trump’s Advisory Commission on Hispanic Prosperity, according to Rolling Stone. In 2019, Trump had a meeting with Tim Ballard at the White House to discuss the significance of the border wall in combating child trafficking.
