Former President Trump is calling for President Biden to undergo a cognitive examination to demonstrate his mental acuity for potential re-election.
Trump expressed this demand on Thursday via his social media platform, Truth Social, stating, “Crooked Joe Biden must take a Cognitive Test. Maybe that way we would be able to find out why he makes such terrible decisions. I took two of them, and ACED them both (no mistakes!).”
He further emphasized, “All Presidents, or people wanting to become President, should mandatorily take this test!”
White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre defended President Biden’s decision not to undergo a cognitive test as part of his recent physical examination, citing the demands of the presidency as evidence of his cognitive abilities.
Jean-Pierre explained that a clinical cognitive test typically lasts 15 minutes and is administered by an unfamiliar individual. She emphasized that the president faces rigorous cognitive challenges daily, including managing job growth, fostering small business activity, and handling significant national investments.
Regarding recent concerns over Biden’s mental fitness, Jean-Pierre stated that Biden’s doctor deemed a cognitive test unnecessary, highlighting the president’s daily performance as evidence of his fitness for office.
Dr. Kevin O’Connor, the president’s physician, affirmed Biden’s health and fitness for the presidency in a released statement, declaring him a healthy and active 81-year-old capable of fulfilling his duties as Chief Executive, Head of State, and Commander in Chief.
