President-elect Donald Trump announced Friday that Ed Russo, a former environmental consultant, will lead an environmental advisory task force for his incoming administration. The group will provide guidance on policies to create jobs and protect natural resources while aligning with Trump’s focus on clean air and clean water.
Trump called Russo an “environmental expert” and reiterated his administration’s commitment to energy independence and economic growth. “Together, we will achieve American Energy DOMINANCE, rebuild our economy, and DRILL, BABY, DRILL,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform.
Russo previously worked as an environmental consultant for the Trump Organization and authored the 2016 book Donald J. Trump, An Environmental Hero, which detailed his work with Trump on environmental initiatives.
Russo’s Career and Achievements
In 2017, Russo launched ER Advisors LLC, a consultancy specializing in environmental policy for organizations and corporations. He co-founded RussKap Water, a company producing atmospheric water generators, and previously served as CEO of WaterGen USA. Russo’s environmental career began in New Jersey, opposing landfill pollution and managing Federal Superfund Program projects.
Russo’s public service includes a four-year term on Florida’s Board of Pilot Commissioners, an appointment by Gov. Ron DeSantis. He has also served on the Monroe County Climate Change Advisory Board and the Board of Directors for Reef Relief. According to a statement, Russo is an expert in designing and managing industrial water reuse and recycling systems.
Other Key Appointments
Trump also announced Bill Briggs as deputy administrator of the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), pending confirmation. Briggs will work alongside Trump’s nominee for SBA administrator, Kelly Loeffler.
“During his first term, Bill helped oversee the historic Paycheck Protection Program that saved countless small businesses and millions of jobs,” Trump said in a separate statement.
These appointments signal Trump’s focus on economic and environmental policy as he prepares to take office.
