Tax-paying Americans have endured years of economic and social consequences from the illegal immigration crisis that flourished under the Biden-Harris administration, benefiting progressive billionaires, dark-money-backed NGOs, and global corporations.
Democrats allowed this surge to happen, despite no American voting for such an invasion, leaving working-class citizens to bear the costs. Among the most pressing issues is the ongoing housing affordability crisis, worsened by millions of illegal immigrants driving up demand and reducing affordability in sanctuary states and cities.
Illegal immigrants have been a fiscal burden, costing more in public services than they contribute in taxes, including through government-subsidized housing.
According to Fox News, Housing and Urban Development Secretary Scott Turner confirmed that the Trump administration has launched a comprehensive review of HUD-funded housing programs to ensure illegal immigrants are no longer receiving benefits intended for American citizens.
Turner directed all public housing authorities to conduct audits within 30 days to verify that current rules are enforced. The department is requiring proof of citizenship or “eligible immigration status.”
“No longer will illegal aliens be able to leave citizenship boxes blank or take advantage of HUD-funded housing, riding the coattails of hardworking American citizens,” Turner said.
He added, “Currently, HUD only serves one out of four eligible families due, in part, to the lack of enforcement of the prohibition against federally funded assistance to illegal aliens.”
In March, Turner and Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem signed the “American Housing Programs for American Citizens” memorandum of understanding, designed to stop the “exploitation” of housing programs by illegal immigrants.
“We’re here signing a partnership to ensure that the wasteful misappropriations that have been going to assist the illegal aliens in our country will no longer go to assist them but instead to assist the American people,” Turner explained in a statement at the time.
Both Turner and Noem have reiterated that taxpayer-funded housing will now be reserved exclusively for American citizens.
