Sydney, once considered a safe refuge for Jewish communities, has recently seen a rise in antisemitic violence, exacerbated by a government perceived as far-left.
On Sunday evening, a tragic incident unfolded at a Hanukkah celebration at Bondi Beach, where two assailants opened fire, resulting in 12 fatalities, including children and a Rabbi, and injuring 29 others. The attackers targeted the event from a pedestrian bridge, causing chaos among the thousands present. One assailant was killed on-site, while the other was apprehended in critical condition; authorities confirmed that at least one attacker was on Australia’s security watchlist. Officials have labeled the assault a deliberate antisemitic act aimed at disrupting a peaceful celebration for the Jewish community.
Eyewitness Jim Ferguson stated, “POLICE OFFICERS DID NOT RETURN FIRE AT TERRORISTS.”
The shooting reportedly lasted nearly 20 minutes, with the assailants repeatedly reloading and firing into the crowd. Despite the presence of four armed police officers at the scene, they did not engage the attackers. This absence of action raises urgent questions: Why was there no return fire? Were officers instructed to remain passive? Were they awaiting further orders? Were they inadequately prepared? Was there a command failure?
These inquiries are not mere accusations; they are vital when civilians are under fire for an extended period. Every moment counts in active shooter situations, and delays can lead to tragic outcomes. If officers were restrained from intervening, the public has a right to know who made such a decision and the rationale behind it. If they were incapable of acting, clarity on the failures is imperative.
Transparency is essential following such a harrowing event. Silence only breeds fear and diminishes trust. The victims and the community deserve answers.
In a remarkable display of courage, a local shopkeeper intervened during the attack, tackling and disarming one of the terrorists. Video footage captured the moment when the unidentified hero, wearing a white shirt, approached the gunman from behind and wrested the weapon away. The assailant was seen fleeing after the confrontation.
The brave individual has been identified as 43-year-old Ahmed al Ahmed, a father of two who runs a fruit stand in Sydney. Reports indicate he was shot twice during the encounter and is currently undergoing surgery. His family expressed pride in his heroic actions.
Ahmed’s courageous response highlights the bravery of ordinary citizens in the face of terror.
