SpaceX successfully launched its Starship rocket, completing a test flight that included catching the returning booster and splashing down in the Indian Ocean.
On Sunday, the Starship, designed to carry astronauts to the moon by 2026, launched and separated from its Falcon Super Heavy rocket booster in a successful test. The booster descended back to Earth and was caught by the “Mechazilla arms” at SpaceX’s Starbase in Texas.
“Are you kidding me?” SpaceX’s Dan Huot exclaimed near the launch site. “I am shaking right now.”
After completing a trip around Earth, the Starship splashed down in the Indian Ocean.
