Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) sparked outrage on Friday after posting a comment on social media attacking former President Donald Trump and invoking the Epstein files, triggering a wave of backlash online.

Back in 2023, Ocasio-Cortez appeared on “Anderson Cooper 360” and controversially stated that then-President Joe Biden should ignore court rulings on abortion pills.

Now, she’s again in the spotlight for controversial remarks—this time about Trump. Her post comes in response to a recently obtained FBI and DOJ memo, first reported by Axios, which stated that Jeffrey Epstein did not maintain a client list for blackmail purposes. The memo also concluded Epstein died by suicide in 2019 and that no further records related to him would be released.

Despite these findings, AOC took a swipe at Trump, writing on X:

Wow who would have thought that electing a rapist would have complicated the release of the Epstein Files?

— Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (@AOC) July 11, 2025

As many have pointed out, Trump has never been convicted of rape. In fact, he successfully sued ABC News and George Stephanopoulos after Stephanopoulos falsely claimed on air that Trump had been “found liable for r*pe” in the E. Jean Carroll case. A Manhattan jury did not find Trump liable for rape but for defamation. ABC settled with Trump for $16 million plus $1 million in legal fees, with the funds set to be donated to a “Presidential Foundation and Museum.”

The response to AOC’s tweet was swift:

If Trump is a rapist, then surely he was convicted of rape in a criminal court and you have evidence of that conviction right?

If not, then this is defamation, and the ABC case that resulted in a $15M payment to Trump is precedent that puts you in legal jeopardy.

AOC is going to be sued for a lot of things so she just doesn’t care at this point.

She’s been caught with illegals on her congressional and campaign staffs.

She’s been caught using federal funds for personal expenses.

And now she’s defaming President Trump.

Now do Biden and his daughter

Hey @POTUS here's another layup defamation win for you

— Whale Psychiatrist ™️ (@k_ovfefe2) July 11, 2025

Why didn't Biden release the Epstein list?

Trump at least arrested Epstein, and then Biden took over.

I'll wait…

— The SCIF (@TheIntelSCIF) July 11, 2025

Trump loves letting leftists accuse him of crimes.

I expect a lawsuit against AOC in the coming weeks.

She done did fucked up.

Unless Ocasio-Cortez deletes her tweet, legal action may soon follow.
