Florida Governor Ron DeSantis issued a warning on Saturday, stating that it is likely a terrorist attack may occur in the United States involving an individual who entered the country illegally.
During a Sin City breakfast meeting sponsored by the Never Back Down SuperPAC supporting his presidential campaign, DeSantis specifically said, “There’s going to be a terrorist attack in this country that we’re going to be able to trace to somebody coming across the border.”
He emphasized the continued threat of terrorism, especially in the context of an open border where nearly eight million people have crossed. DeSantis also reiterated his support for Israel and his opposition to the resettlement of refugees from Gaza in the United States, a stance that has garnered support from some left-wing Democrats.
DeSantis mentioned opposition from figures like AOC and left-wingers who advocate for bringing in refugees from the Gaza Strip and expressed his decision to bring in zero refugees from Gaza to the United States. Regarding vetting migrants from Gaza, DeSantis expressed skepticism, in contrast to the views of some on the left, such as Rep. Jamaal Bowman.
In the 2024 GOP presidential primary, DeSantis remained in second place, while former President Trump consistently maintained a substantial lead in the polls heading into November.
