Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., an independent presidential candidate for 2024, issued a cautionary statement following the Colorado Supreme Court’s decision to bar former President Trump from the ballot due to the events of January 6.
Expressing concern over the potential consequences of keeping Trump out of office through legal means instead of fair elections, Kennedy emphasized the importance of trusting voters over the judiciary. He argued that when a candidate is denied the right to run, it infringes upon the American people’s right to choose, emphasizing the fundamental principles of democracy.
Calling for a prompt reversal of the 4-3 Colorado decision, Kennedy contended that it contributes to the perception of elites manipulating the legal system to influence the selection of the President.
In subsequent remarks, Kennedy drew parallels between the Colorado Trump ruling and alleged efforts to censor and block him within the Democratic Party. Co-founders of Americas Voice 2024, Mark Gorton and Tony Lyons, underscored similarities between the tactics employed against Kennedy and those used by the DNC to obstruct third-party candidates on a state-by-state basis.
Highlighting the alleged attempts to keep Kennedy off the ballot, especially in the context of potential debates with Joe Biden and Donald Trump, supporters criticized these actions as anti-democratic tactics. They portrayed Kennedy as a principled figure challenging the perceived manipulation and corruption within the political establishment, particularly condemning the DNC’s efforts to limit voter choices and control the electoral process.
