Former President Donald Trump has taken a 3-point lead over Vice President Kamala Harris in a new swing state poll for North Carolina. The survey, conducted by American Greatness/TIPP and the TechnoMetrica Institute of Policy and Politics, polled 1,037 registered voters from September 11-13, including 973 likely voters.

Trump captured 48.9% of the vote, while Harris lagged slightly behind at 45.9%. The poll has a margin of error of +/- 3.2%. Pollster Raghavan Mayur, president of TechnoMetrica, commented, “Trump looks solid in North Carolina. He is breaking out as the voting begins.”

North Carolina is already gearing up for early voting, with overseas ballots set to be mailed by September 20. However, a legal challenge concerning John F. Kennedy Jr.’s name on the ballot delayed some mailings.

The survey was conducted after the Harris-Trump debate, which some pundits gave to Harris. However, Mayur noted that “NC seems not to be affected much by the debate. At least it is not showing in the horserace data.”

Among independents, Trump holds a 46% to 41% advantage over Harris. The top issues in North Carolina remain the economy and inflation, with 67% of voters identifying these concerns, followed by immigration and border security (46%), and healthcare (33%).

As for the gubernatorial race, Democrat Josh Stein holds a 50%-34% lead over Republican Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson to succeed outgoing Governor Roy Cooper.
