Polls Show Donald Trump Widening Lead Over Joe Biden Across the Nation

In the pivotal swing state of North Carolina, the latest Marist survey examining the general election reveals that former President Donald Trump is narrowly leading President Joe Biden.

According to the poll, there’s a close contest for the presidency in North Carolina, with Trump currently holding 51 percent support among registered voters, while Biden trails by three points at 48 percent.

However, this three-point margin falls within the survey’s margin of error of ± 3.6 percent. Even with independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. included, the gap remains the same, with Trump garnering 46 percent support, Biden at 43 percent, and Kennedy at 11 percent.

Our first NC poll of 2024 gives Trump a slim lead and shows the Governor's race with its controversial GOP candidate very close.

In contrast to the recent Marist survey, which indicated Biden holding a slight lead over Trump among independents in Georgia by one point, this survey reveals Trump leading this demographic by six points, with 52 percent support compared to Biden’s 46 percent.

Although Biden still maintains an advantage with black voters, there’s been a significant drop in support from 92 percent to 79 percent. Trump’s support among young voters has also increased, rising from 40 percent to 49 percent among those aged 18 to 29, and from 43 percent to 51 percent among voters aged 30 to 44.

Furthermore, the survey highlights that 53 percent of North Carolina residents disapprove of Biden’s job performance, while 54 percent hold an unfavorable view of him. Additionally, a majority (59 percent) view Biden’s mental fitness as a genuine concern, with even a quarter of Democrats (26 percent) sharing this apprehension.
