It’s been a rough DNC for Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA).
After playing a key role in sidelining Joe Biden, ignoring the votes of over 14 million people, she had to feign enthusiasm while chanting “We Love Joe” during his stumbling, lie-filled speech on Monday night. Biden, whom she once suggested should be on Mount Rushmore, didn’t exactly seem worthy of that honor, nor did he exude joy as he ranted and screamed about Trump.
But Wednesday night brought an even more embarrassing moment for Pelosi as she approached the podium at the DNC. As she walked, she seemed to stutter-step, and something appeared to fall from her pants. Many viewers speculated it was toilet paper.
Others had different theories about what it might have been. According to the NY Post, a source claimed it was notes. Vice President Kamala Harris’ nephew, Alexander Hudlin, turned over the item minutes later, revealing a complex geometrical shape, deepening the mystery. The source familiar with Pelosi’s appearance insisted, “It was note cards” that were “folded up” containing her speech—yet, if that was the case, why didn’t she pick them up after looking back and seeing what had fallen?
Skeptics weren’t convinced, speculating everything from toilet paper and hygiene products to alcohol, along with some humorous interpretations.
While this was undoubtedly embarrassing, perhaps even more so was what Pelosi said on Thursday about former President Donald Trump during an appearance on MSNBC with Andrea Mitchell.
“We have to defeat a person who is a threat to our democracy of the kind that we have not seen. At the beginning of our country, Thomas Paine said, ‘The times have found us, declare war, establish a new nation.’ Abraham Lincoln took up that charge to keep our country together, years later, decades later. And now the times have found us to save our democracy. That is what we are here to do.”
Isn’t this the same person behind the undemocratic coup against Biden? How ironic to label someone else a threat to democracy when you’ve thrown your “friend” under the bus to maintain power.
This is the essence of the Democrats: accusing Trump of everything while speaking of “war” with half the country, invoking the Civil War, and using violent, divisive language barely a month after an assassination attempt against Trump.
The irony is, after all this, when Kamala loses anyway, it’ll be the ultimate karma.
