An NYPD officer and a civilian were shot Monday in Midtown Manhattan, according to local reports. The incident occurred near East 52nd Street and Park Avenue, and the situation remains active.
Police sources told WABC that the suspect ran into an office building after the shooting. A lockdown was later implemented at 345 Park Avenue.
The NYPD confirmed there is an active crime scene and warned the public to expect emergency vehicles and possible delays in the area.
Footage from the scene showed heavily armed officers entering a building, with numerous ambulances and a large police presence nearby.
FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino stated that agents and management personnel from the FBI’s New York Field Office are responding to assist.
Authorities have not yet released information about the victims’ conditions or the suspect’s status. The investigation is ongoing.
