Melania Trump has voiced increasing skepticism and frustration with the “official version of events” surrounding the assassination attempt on her husband, former President Donald Trump, stating that “there is definitely more to this story” and emphasizing the need to “uncover the truth.”
In a newly released video on her social media, Melania described the July 13th attack in Pennsylvania, which left one person dead, two seriously injured, and grazed Trump’s ear after he miraculously moved just in time, as a “horrible, distressing experience.”
“Now, the silence around it feels heavy. I can’t help but wonder why law enforcement didn’t arrest the shooter before the speech. There is definitely more to this story, and we need to uncover the truth,” Melania said. The 20-year-old gunman managed to fire multiple rounds from a nearby rooftop before being killed by law enforcement officers.
This is the first time the former first lady has discussed the incident on camera, though she previously issued a written statement urging Americans to “ascend above the hate” and praising the law enforcement and sniper who neutralized the attacker.
“America, the fabric of our gentle nation is tattered, but our courage and common sense must ascend and bring us back together as one,” she wrote at the time.
Her latest comments align with growing theories and speculations surrounding the shooter and the incident, as well as left-wing conspiracies suggesting Trump may have “faked” the assassination attempt.
Despite an investigation into the gunman’s background and online activity, federal authorities have yet to determine his motive.
In response, Congress has launched inquiries into the security and communication failures that allowed the shooter to fire from a rooftop so close to Trump’s stage. A bipartisan House task force, led by Rep. Mike Kelly (R-Pa.), is expected to hold its first public hearing on the matter in the coming weeks.
