A Chicago college employee who advocated for armed rebellion against the Trump administration has lost his job and may face federal charges.
Moises Bernal Puentes, identifying as a “No Kings” activist, was recorded making violent threats during a leftist protest in Grant Park, urging attendees to “grab a gun” and attack federal agents.
“You gotta grab a gun. We gotta turn around the guns on this fascist system. These ICE agents gotta get shot and wiped out,” Puentes shouted at the October 18 “Hands Off Chicago/No Kings” demonstration.
He continued, “This same machinery that’s on full display right there has to get wiped out,” as members of the Progressive Labor Party, a communist group aiming to “destroy capitalism,” cheered him on.
Wilbur Wright College terminated Puentes from his position as Adult Education Manager by Thursday.
“The individual is not employed by Wilbur Wright College or any affiliated colleges. Our college system does not tolerate violence nor incitement under any circumstances,” said spokeswoman Veronica Resa to the Wright Times.
According to the student newspaper, City Colleges of Chicago staff can be dismissed immediately for “egregious conduct,” including threats or acts of violence.
Puentes’ troubles extended beyond his job loss; the Department of Homeland Security announced last week that he is under federal investigation due to his inflammatory remarks.
“During the Chicago NO KINGS rally this previous weekend, violent rioters called for the cold-blooded murder of ICE agents,” the DHS stated on X. “This rioter, and his statements have been referred to the DOJ.”
The agency also issued a stern warning: “There is no place in America for psychotic incitements of unlawful violence against ICE or CBP. To those who threaten violence against us: we will hunt you down, we will find you, and Justice will be served.”
Puentes was not the only activist making headlines that day; video from the same rally captured other far-left demonstrators joking about assassinating President Trump and Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk.
One woman, identified as Lucy Martinez, a teacher at Nathan Hale Elementary School, was seen laughing and mimicking a gunshot to her neck while mocking Kirk’s assassination.
Her school later confirmed her identity and stated that her actions did not reflect the professionalism and respect expected from staff, adding that the issue has been addressed internally.
As of Monday morning, Martinez remained employed.
