President Joe Biden offered a brief and vague statement regarding the New Orleans terrorist attack that left at least 10 dead and 35 injured during New Year’s Eve celebrations.
The attack, carried out by 42-year-old Shamsud Din Jabbar, involved a truck plowing into a crowd. Witnesses reported the suspect flying a black flag from the truck bed during the rampage. Jabbar was killed in a shootout with police at the scene.
Fox News reporter David Spunt revealed that the truck used in the attack was previously spotted near the U.S.-Mexico border in Eagle Pass, Texas.
Amid his vacation in Wilmington, Delaware, Biden stopped briefly to speak to reporters as he headed to Camp David. His remarks offered little in terms of clarity or action.
“You all got my statement. I’ll have more to say in the next hour about what’s going on in New Orleans,” Biden said. “I’ve spoken to every member of the agencies, from CIA to national security team to FBI and NSC… anger and frustration.”
The comment has drawn criticism for its lack of detail and substance during such a critical moment.
