A leaked Signal group chat has unveiled significant connections between Democratic officials, including Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, and radical anti-ICE activists in Minneapolis.
The private messaging group, named “MN ICE Watch,” is reportedly being used to coordinate protests, issue directives, and even dox federal ICE agents amidst the ongoing protests in Minneapolis.
The identities of the group’s administrators were disclosed after conservative independent journalist Cam Higby infiltrated the chat and shared the information on X.
“I have infiltrated organizational signal groups all around Minneapolis with the sole intention of tracking down federal agents and impeding/assaulting/and obstructing them,” Higby stated at the beginning of his extensive thread featuring screenshots and videos from the chat.
One of the group’s admins is Amanda Noelle Koehler, a known protest organizer and former campaign strategist for Walz, who operates under the codename “HAH” in the chat.
Koehler, who believes that property damage does not constitute violence, has been instrumental in organizing protests and walkouts in the area.
The former Walz staffer is alleged to have actively mobilized volunteers to track and harass federal agents during “Operation Metro Surge,” which is part of the Trump administration’s crackdown on illegal immigration in the Twin Cities.
Local politician David Snyder and Minnesota State Senate candidate Anita Smithson are also listed as admins and a dispatcher, respectively. Snyder deleted his LinkedIn account following the leak.
Screenshots from the leak reveal discussions about sharing sensitive information regarding ICE operations, including agent locations and tactics.
Higby explained that he has been undercover inside the groups for several days and provided details about the operations, including emoji codes used to identify roles within the group.
The group maintains a database of license plates belonging to ICE agents, allowing members to check vehicles against this database.
At one point, Higby recorded a conversation in which protesters mistakenly identified him as an ICE agent and instructed others to follow him.
