Former President Donald Trump has issued an official statement regarding the second assassination attempt on his life this election cycle.
On Sunday, Secret Service agents quickly moved Trump to safety after gunshots were fired at Trump International Golf Course near West Palm Beach, Florida. Trump was on the golf course when agents discovered an armed suspect reportedly approaching his location. The shooter allegedly fired first, prompting the Secret Service to return fire.
In a statement later on Sunday, Trump said, “There were gunshots in my vicinity, but before rumors start spiraling out of control, I wanted you to hear this first: I AM SAFE AND WELL!” He continued, “Nothing will slow me down. I will NEVER SURRENDER! I will always love you for supporting me.”

Local ABC affiliate WPLG reported that a suspect believed to be the shooter was apprehended after fleeing the scene. Witness descriptions helped local authorities identify and pull over the suspect’s vehicle. Martin County Sheriff William D. Snyder described the suspect as “relatively calm” and “not displaying a lot of emotions” during the arrest.
The assassination attempt occurred about two months after Trump was shot during a previous attempt on his life at a Pennsylvania rally.
