Stealth presidential candidate Kamala Harris attempted a new tactic this weekend to avoid answering questions from the press, but her overzealous effort ended up revealing her strategy.
You may have already seen the video of Harris stepping out of her vehicle at Joint Base Andrews on her way to catch a flight to Detroit. However, there’s more to this 25-second clip than meets the eye.
If you haven’t seen the clip, here it is.
There’s something odd going on, but I’ll get to that in a moment. As the press shouts questions at her, Harris appears too “busy” on the phone to respond, though she’d surely love to—if only she weren’t so preoccupied. She’s holding a phone with bright white earbuds connected by a bright white wire. It’s hard to miss how crucial and intense her call must be on that hefty secure phone.
She’s likely speaking with someone far more important than any reporter—maybe George Clooney or whoever her Cabal contact is issuing her daily instructions.
Some folks on X pointed out a couple of things that don’t quite add up. First, hardly anyone uses wired headphones anymore. Second, phones with headphone jacks are nearly extinct.
While information is sparse, it’s hard to imagine that a secure phone would use Bluetooth earbuds without compromising security. Wired headphones or earbuds seem necessary, so that detail checks out. If any readers can confirm this, I’d love to hear from you.
However, one detail doesn’t pass the sniff test, and you can spot it around the eight-second mark. Harris, with earbuds in, lifts the phone to her ear as if to talk—despite already having earbuds in.
I didn’t catch this the first time I watched the clip, for a couple of reasons. First, she holds the phone in her left hand, away from the camera. Second, bringing a phone to your ear is such a natural gesture that it doesn’t seem odd at first glance. To my knowledge, there isn’t a phone that requires you to hold it up to your ear while wearing earbuds—whether wired or wireless.
“I SAID, CAN YOU HEAR ME NOW?”
My initial thought was that maybe her earbud mic wasn’t picking up her voice, so she brought the phone closer to her face for the phone mic to catch it. But she isn’t speaking. In fact, she’s holding the phone away from her mouth, like actors do to avoid covering their faces when pretending to talk on the phone. Harris appears to be putting on just as much of a show for the camera.
I don’t understand why she even tries. She’s never in any real danger of the State Steno Pool asking her a tough question—let alone following up with anything hard-hitting. The chances of that happening are about as slim as her actually being on the phone with someone in that clip.
