Harris Taps Dem Email Lists to Market New Book, Sparking Party Neutrality Concerns

Kamala Harris’ upcoming memoir, 107 Days, is being promoted through Democratic Party-aligned email operations, raising questions about neutrality as the 2028 presidential race looms.

Axios reported that a marketing email for the book was sent out using the Harris Victory Fund list — a list tied to both the Democratic National Committee and Harris’ 2024 presidential campaign. The email promoted the book but did not solicit donations to the DNC.

The move has prompted concern among some Democrats, given that Harris is considered a potential contender in the 2028 primaries. With President Donald Trump term-limited, both parties are preparing for heated primary battles.

According to the report, the DNC did not send the email. While party email lists can be used for book promotions if paid for fairly, the DNC confirmed to Fox News Digital that it was not responsible for the message.

Harris spokeswoman Kirsten Allen told Axios the use of the list was in compliance with Federal Election Commission regulations.

Still, the promotion signals Harris is relying on Democratic networks to boost sales of her memoir, which will cover her short-lived 2024 campaign — a campaign launched after President Joe Biden withdrew following early primary results.

“It was intense, high-stakes, and deeply personal for me and for so many of you. Since leaving office, I’ve spent a lot of time reflecting on those days,” Harris said in a video released July 31 announcing the book.

“I believe there’s value in sharing what I saw, what I learned, and what I know it will take to move forward,” she added. “Sometimes, the fight takes a while.”

It’s not uncommon for politicians to release books after major campaigns. Hillary Clinton did so in 2017 with What Happened following her loss to Trump.

Harris recently said she will not run for California governor in 2026, adding fuel to speculation about a 2028 presidential bid. She previously sought the Democratic nomination in 2020 but ended her campaign in December 2019.

“For now, my leadership – and public service – will not be in elected office. I look forward to getting back out and listening to the American people, helping elect Democrats across the nation who will fight fearlessly, and sharing more details in the months ahead about my own plans,” Harris said in a statement.

Her decision has opened the door for a crowded race to succeed Gov. Gavin Newsom, with several Democrats reportedly eyeing the position.

At the national level, Democrats are already floating names like Newsom, Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear, and Maryland Gov. Wes Moore as possible 2028 contenders. On the Republican side, President Trump suggested Vice President JD Vance could be a frontrunner.

“Well, I think most likely. In all fairness, he’s the vice president, and I think Marco is also somebody that maybe would get together with JD in some form,” Trump said Tuesday. “I also think we have incredible people, some of the people on the stage right here. So, it’s too early, obviously, to talk about it, but certainly he’s doing a great job. And he would be probably favored at this point.”
