Kamala Harris continues to reveal her true colors, borrowing from Donald Trump’s playbook while pretending to offer fresh ideas. As usual, her moves are transparent, and it’s clear what’s going on here: blatant political opportunism.
In a recent example, Kevin Hassett, former senior advisor to President Trump and chairman of the Council of Economic Advisers, pointed out that Harris’ proposed $50,000 small business tax credit was something she opposed back when Trump suggested a similar increase.
Hassett broke it down during an interview on PBS’ Firing Line with Margaret Hoover:
“So that policy, the small business deduction, it’s $5,000 in the law now. And in 2018, President Trump and the Republicans wanted to expand the deduction to $20,000. It actually passed the House with very little Democratic support…This is an example of her reaching into Donald Trump’s playbook and taking one of his policies.”
In classic Harris style, she seems to have flip-flopped again. She opposed the deduction expansion when Trump suggested it, but now she’s all for it. As Hassett aptly pointed out:
“Expanding the deduction for startup businesses is a good idea…She was opposed to it before she was for it. So, you could ask, is she really for it now, or can she explain why she changed her mind?”
The reality is, Harris hasn’t changed her core positions. She’s simply rebranding herself to appeal to moderate and independent voters. Should she win in November, though, expect her to return to her far-left agenda in no time.
