On ABC’s “The Week” on Sunday, Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) expressed confidence that the U.S. Supreme Court will overturn the decision of the Colorado Supreme Court to disqualify former President Donald Trump from the state’s ballot. Graham criticized the Colorado Supreme Court’s decision as a political one, asserting that there is no constitutional basis for their ruling. He anticipates a straightforward victory for Trump in the Supreme Court, ensuring his eventual presence on the Colorado ballot and a successful primary outcome.
Graham voiced concern about the Colorado ruling, characterizing it as chilling and warning of the potential politicization of presidential races, which he believes would be detrimental to the country. Acknowledging the variety of choices within the Republican Party, Graham emphasized the significance of securing the ballot in the 2024 cycle.
While recognizing that politicians, including Hillary Clinton, have contested election results, Graham affirmed his acceptance of the 2020 election outcome.
He shifted the focus to the future, stating that if President Trump presents a forward-looking vision for improving security and prosperity for Americans, he believes Trump will be successful in the 2024 election. Graham concluded by underscoring the need to move beyond the 2020 election and concentrate on safeguarding the ballot in the upcoming electoral cycle.
