Nathan Wade, the special prosecutor embroiled in controversy due to his affair and potential conflict of interest with Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis, tendered his resignation from Willis’s office on Friday.
Wade’s decision follows a judge’s ruling allowing Willis to remain on the case, albeit with a reprimand, contingent upon Wade’s withdrawal to prevent any perceived conflict of interest.
“In our pursuit of upholding the rule of law and democratic principles, our collective focus has always been clear in prosecuting those accused of attempting to undermine the outcome of Georgia’s 2020 presidential election,” Wade stated.
In response, Willis praised Wade’s professionalism and integrity while acknowledging the challenges he faced, including threats to him and his family, as well as unwarranted attacks on his reputation in both the media and the courtroom.
