After his recent expulsion from Congress, George Santos has turned to the platform Cameo as a new source of income. Cameo allows users to pay celebrities for personalized videos, suitable for various occasions such as birthdays or holidays. Santos’ Cameo profile, where he describes himself as a “former congressional ‘icon'” and “The Expelled member of Congress from New York City,” is available on his X profile.

Interested individuals can book personalized videos with Santos on Cameo, with prices starting at $200. This move places Santos in the company of other former politicians, such as ex-Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich, former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, and Roger Stone, who have also joined Cameo to earn additional income.

Santos’ decision to explore opportunities on Cameo comes amid significant legal challenges and the likelihood of substantial legal expenses in his post-congressional life. Federal prosecutors, in a 23-count indictment, have accused him of deceiving donors, embezzling funds from his campaign, and providing false information to Congress.

His expulsion from the House, following a scathing ethics report on his conduct, occurred with a 311-114 vote, comfortably surpassing the required two-thirds majority. While House Republican leaders initially opposed Santos’ removal, 105 GOP lawmakers ultimately sided with nearly all Democrats to expel him.

This expulsion marked the conclusion of Santos’ congressional career, which began with promise as he flipped a district from Democrats but unraveled due to controversies about false claims regarding his background.

Santos’ legal troubles and expulsion have narrowed the GOP’s majority to 221-213, creating an opportunity for Democrats to fill the vacancy.
