Are you concerned about the current state of our southern border? Well, Texas GOP Rep. Monica De La Cruz has had enough and she’s taking action. She recently spoke out against Department of Homeland Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, saying that he doesn’t deserve the benefits of his position because he’s not doing his job at the border.
De La Cruz introduced the “Mayorkas Must Fly Coach Until We Secure the Border Act,” which would strip Mayorkas of his funding for private flights and force him to use commercial airlines for his work travels. She believes that if he’s not fulfilling his duties as DHS secretary, he shouldn’t be enjoying the perks of the job that come at our expense.
It seems Rep. De La Cruz has struck a chord with her fellow Congress members as Reps. Andy Biggs, Andy Ogles, Derrick Van Orden, Anna Paulina Luna, and Majorie Taylor Greene have all expressed their support for the bill.
Mayorkas has been under fire from Republicans for his handling of the southern border crisis which has skyrocketed under President Biden. Some members of the GOP in both the House and Senate have even called for his impeachment, including Texas GOP Rep. Pat Fallon.
It’s time to hold our government officials accountable for their actions, or inaction, when it comes to the safety and security of our country. It’s time for Mayorkas to start fulfilling his duties and until then, he can fly coach like the rest of us!
