A former British Airways flight attendant has pleaded guilty after being discovered naked and high in a plane toilet during a flight from California to London.
Haden Pentecost, 41, admitted in Uxbridge Magistrates’ Court on Aug. 22 to “performing an aviation function while impaired by drugs,” according to the BBC.
Tests showed he had methamphetamine and amphetamines in his system at the time of the incident. He was described as “agitated, sweating and babbling,” according to the Guardian.
Before takeoff, Pentecost failed to assist with pre-flight safety checks, leading his supervisor to stand him down. He later told the court he was suffering from stomach cramps and went to change his clothes, locking himself in a toilet.
A female colleague discovered him inside, unaware that he was completely naked. She helped dress him and placed him in a spare seat.
During the flight, Pentecost’s condition required repeated checks. He had a high heart rate and dilated pupils. After the aircraft landed at Heathrow, he was taken to a hospital.
Pentecost has since been fired by British Airways. He was granted bail and will be sentenced at a later date.
According to the Independent, Pentecost lives in Basingstoke with his husband. He previously appeared in a British Airways safety video, playing a nobleman in period costume.
British Airways did not publicly comment on the case, and the date of the incident was not revealed in court.
