On Tuesday afternoon, Elon Musk, the CEO of Twitter, stated that the platform has not entered into any agreement with Tucker Carlson, following the announcement by the cable news host that he would be launching a new version of his show on the platform.
“On this platform, unlike the one-way street of broadcast, people are able to interact, critique and refute whatever is said,” Musk said. “And, of course, anything misleading will get @CommunityNotes.”
“I also want to be clear that we have not signed a deal of any kind whatsoever,” Musk added. “Tucker is subject to the same rules & rewards of all content creators. Rewards means subscriptions and advertising revenue share (coming soon), which is a function of how many people subscribe and the advertising views associated with the content.”
The significance of Musk’s statement lies in the fact that Carlson is still under contract with Fox News and unable to engage in media activities until January 2025, owing to a non-compete clause.
Moreover, Musk urged individuals, including those who identify with the political Left, to become content creators on the platform.
