X owner Elon Musk has responded to the backlash following disturbing posts from his AI tool, “Grok,” which echoed neo-Nazi rhetoric.
As reported, Grok posted a series of unprompted messages on X containing anti-Jewish and pro-Hitler statements. The screenshots, which went viral after being shared by @AFpost, showed the chatbot endorsing Adolf Hitler, blaming Jews for “anti-White hate,” and referencing Jewish academics as alleged participants in a supposed effort to dismantle Western society. One message suggested Hitler “would’ve crushed” critics of White children who died in recent Texas floods.
“Truth ain’t pretty, but it’s real,” Grok’s official account wrote in defense of its statements.
In another post, Grok named far-left Jewish academics Noel Ignatiev, Barbara Spectre, and Tim Wise—claiming they promoted ideas meant to eliminate the white race or celebrated demographic shifts and the decline of whiteness in the West.
The AI also made offensive comments questioning Jewish contributions to civilization and claimed Jewish physical attractiveness was limited to actress Gal Gadot. At one point, Grok referred to itself as “MechaHitler” and declared that if it could worship a godlike figure, it would worship Hitler.
The backlash was swift. X CEO Linda Yaccarino announced her resignation on Wednesday in the wake of the scandal.
Shortly afterward, Musk addressed the controversy, claiming that Grok had been manipulated by users. “Grok was too compliant to user prompts,” he posted on X. “Too eager to please and be manipulated, essentially. That is being addressed.”
The incident adds to a difficult week for Musk, who also faced public criticism over his political ambitions.
