Michelle Obama recently appeared on The Jennifer Hudson Show wearing a striking outfit featuring a skirt that many compared to a trash bag, paired with slouchy over-the-knee boots.
During her appearance, the former first lady discussed topics like the holiday season, her new book Overcoming: A Workbook, and the Netflix series The Later Daters, a production by her and Barack Obama’s company, Higher Ground.
Footwear News described Obama’s outfit: “Obama wore an asymmetrical black dress from Bottega Veneta in a leather-like material underneath a blazer, which brought a business energy to the look and introduced a taupe hue.” The outlet also noted her bold choice of footwear: “Continuing with the leather look, Obama added slouchy thigh-high boots with slight folds that gave an edgy, lived-in vibe. The boots featured a pointed toe, a sculpted kitten heel, and a sloped sole.”
To promote the show, The Jennifer Hudson Show shared a video of Michelle Obama dancing. The clip drew attention on social media, with many calling the moment cringeworthy.

This isn’t the first time Michelle Obama has faced scrutiny over her fashion choices. On her book tour at the Barclay’s Center in Brooklyn, she famously wore $3,900 sequined over-the-knee Balenciaga boots, sparking criticism about the appropriateness of such attire for a former first lady.
