The House Education and Workforce Committee is once again stepping up where the media has failed, holding Democratic VP candidate Tim Walz accountable for his disastrous tenure as Minnesota governor—this time over a massive COVID-related fraud scandal.
Here’s the quick rundown: A Minnesota-based charity, Feeding Our Future, exploited pandemic rules that allowed student meal programs to operate off school grounds, creating around 250 fraudulent meal-assistance sites. They siphoned off nearly $250 million in federal aid, which was spent on luxury items like high-end cars and real estate. According to Attorney General Merrick Garland, this was the largest pandemic scam to face charges so far.
And all of it happened under Walz’s watch, with his Department of Education supposedly overseeing the program.
Now, Walz is facing a serious document subpoena from the committee, led by the relentless Rep. Virginia Foxx (R-NC), to uncover answers about the scandal that the media refuses to ask.
Key questions that should have been raised the moment his name surfaced as a potential VP candidate: How can Americans trust someone in the second-highest office when a major scam like this unfolded on his watch?
This COVID fraud literally took food from hungry children, and yet Walz has largely escaped intense media scrutiny.
The press has also tiptoed around his lies about drunk driving, his fabricated military service, his disastrous delay in deploying the National Guard during the Floyd riots, and much more.
If the mainstream media had its way, Walz would waltz into office without facing any real questions.
So kudos to Rep. Foxx and her team—but it’s a disgrace that Congress has to do the investigative work the media should be doing.
