Colorado’s Representative, Ken Buck, declared his resignation from the House effective by the week’s end, as announced on Tuesday.

Expressing gratitude for nine years of serving Colorado’s 4th District, Buck stated, “It has been an honor to serve… I will depart Congress at the end of next week.”

Buck plans to remain politically engaged while prioritizing time with his family in Colorado.

Having served since November 2014, Buck currently holds positions on the House Judiciary and Foreign Affairs Committees. Notably, he was among the three House Republicans who dissented against the impeachment of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas.

His departure, following a prior decision not to seek re-election, further tightens the GOP’s majority, leaving them with just two votes to spare on any issue, and resulting in a breakdown of 218 Republicans and 213 Democrats out of 431 members.
